Talk About Immigration Reform

This post comes after President Obama said Wednesday that he hoped to sign an immigration bill before the year ends while a bipartisan group in the House of Representatives (4 Republicans and 4 Democrats) are working on an immigration bill which includes an easier and faster process for immigrants to legally enter the U.S., or legally stay in the U.S. for illegal immigrants, and has received President Obama's support.

I personally am all for this approach with the bill. I am a left leaning American and I was actually hoping for giving current illegal immigrants amnesty, which many Republicans are complaining this current bill does. This immigration bill however does not do that as the immigrants themselves still have to go through a process of becoming a legal immigrant. I understand some Republicans oppose amnesty for various reasons, but the one reason I am okay with this bill is that the U.S. is still recovering from a tough economy, and still arguing about the national debt, tax reform, spending cuts, etc. but I feel this bill has the possibility to alleviate some of these issues. More legal immigrants would and U.S. citizens would increase tax revenue for the country as there would be more people paying taxes, this would help to bring down the debt and allow Democrats to back off a bit on tax increases for the wealthy. I also do not believe the United States should become an isolationist country again as it was back before World War II by closing off our borders to immigrants as that sets a bad image to other countries. I feel that we are still the land of opportunity and closing our borders takes away from that. No person living in the United States today is a natural native to the country except the American Indians and even they are believed to be descendants of people who traveled to North America during the Ice Age. I, for one am proud to be an American, but I'm also proud to be Polish and Italian as well (great food haha).

So tell me what you think?

  1. Off to a good start.

    Some suggestions:
-dress up the background a bit (maybe create a collage in Photoshop?)
-proof before posting. Missing a few commas.
